start up only gets halfway and never goes any further??
when l turn the computer on the logo and progress bar come up but the startup only gets halfway through and it doesn't go any further??

Also try booting into "Safe" mode

This is an experiment to see if it is a 3rd party addition trying to load during startup.
If Safe mode works, then you want to run EtreCheck and post the output. EtreCheck will list all the 3rd party additions you have installed.
